Athletics

PHSG will participate in the F Bond Athletics during the first term of 2017. This will see our athletes compete in all the different age groups and the athletic disciplines; javelin, shot put, discus, long jump, triple jump, high jump, 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, 400m hurdles, 100m sprint, 200m sprint, 400m, 800m, 1500m, and 3000m.

An athletics training camp was scheduled for early December after which the athletes will receive a training programme to follow diligently during the December holidays.

The 2017 season will commence with an invitational meeting on Saturday 14 January. At this meeting all PHSG learners will participate in any of the 15 disciplines to be selected for the PHSG Athletics Team.
We are very excited about the new venture.

Cross Country

Cross country’s junior and senior teams have both performed well this year. Megan Gerber has been in the top 10 for senior girls for each race and was often top 4 for her age group at league meets. Outside of PHSG, Megan received a team silver medal at the SA Cross Country Championship and placed 4th in the AGN Cross Country age group team at the championships and the AGN team came second in the event. We are very proud of Megan and her accomplishments.

Among the juniors, Erin Weintraud and Bonolo Moabi have also run really well. Erin, despite an injury resulting in her not competing in the final league race, has managed to be in the top 30 of her age group. Our cross country girls performed well this year.

Equestrian

The equestrian team made us very proud at the national championships that were held during the October holiday.
Individual results:
• Jean Marie Rossouw placed 6th for stadium eventing
• Emma van Schie placed 3rd for working riding level 3
• Katie Tulloch placed 10th for equitation 70 cm and
• Kayla Geel placed 6th for equitation 70 cm.

Making it this far means that they are the best in Gauteng and not just in Pretoria (Gauteng North).

The soccer league started in term 3. PHSG’s 1st team won the Pretoria league and was invited to take part in the Gauteng tournament where they ended 5th out of 16 schools. We are very proud of our soccer girls.

Swimming

PHSG is hosting a swimming camp at the beginning of the 2017 swimming season. This camp will be held at the school pool from 4 – 6 January 2017.

General

We had a range of sport skills clinics we presented for the Grade 8’s of 2017. The clinics were a massive success.
